Eating Garlic for Your Health
Garlic’s immune balancing properties are well known. It is proven to have antibactierial, antiviral, antifungal, antiparasitic and anticancer properties. Along with its ability to lower blood pressure, and cholesterol make it king of the herb family in regards to your health and healing.
A compound in garlic, allicin, is a known antibiotic. During World War I thousands of soldiers’ lives were saved when their wounds were wrapped in garlic-soaked bandages. Allicin hinders more than 23 kinds of bacteria, at least 60 types of fungi and yeast, including Candida, and also salmonella.
Garlic is probably the best-known healing foods, its benefits praised by both the ancient Greeks and Egyptians and now supported by modern research. Its health advantages are wide-ranging because it aids the circulation and resistance to infection, which in turn affect many aspects of the body’s health.
Antibiotic action against infectious agents. Garlic can subdue a range of bacterial, viral, and fungal infections, such as flu, colds, cold sores, gastroenteritis, and yeast infections.
Helps blood flow freely. Studies show that garlic helps dilate blood vessels and reduces the risk of blood clots, which can block blood vessels, leading to a heart attack or stroke.
Lowers blood pressure. Several studies confirm that valuable drops can be produced by moderate amounts of garlic.
Lowers blood sugar levels. Reducing the rise in blood sugar in response to food helps some diabetics.
Anticancer action. Chinese population studies have shown that those who usually ate the most garlic had less than half the risk of stomach cancer of those who ate less garlic.
Garlic powders contain very little anti-bacterial and anti-clotting properties, so fresh garlic is the only one you should consider using. The oils of garlic are fragile. Even lightly cooking a clove destroys the antibiotic allicin.
Its detoxifying properties help to eliminate harmful bacteria and troublesome intestinal parasites, which are very common. Put a couple of cloves through a garlic press and add it to your salad, juices.
Remember a clove (or as many cloves as you can consume) a day keeps the doctor away.
