Digestive enzymes (part 2)
In a study at George Washington University Hospital, patients were fed 50 grams of raw starch. The average rise in blood sugar was 1 milligram per 100 cc in one half-hour, with a decrease of 1.2 mg after one hour and a decrease of 3 mg in two hours. Patients fed 50 grams of cooked starch saw an increase in blood sugar of 56 mg at half an hour, 51 mg at one hour, and down to 11 mg after two hours. Fatigue and anxiety accompanied this great swing in blood sugar.10
The importance of a high enzyme diet cannot be stressed enough. Enzymes are the key to all life and in order to live a full life as God meant us to live we must take in enough enzymes to keep our enzyme bank account high. If not as stated we will become enzyme bankrupt and disease will begin. There are only two ways to keep the enzyme store adequate for total health = wholeness:
1) Eat a total raw food diet which consists of uncooked fruits, vegetables and their fresh raw juices, seeds, nuts, sprouted grains and their sprouted grasses.
2) Add vegetable based digestive enzymes to your diet whenever you eat cooked food. This is not as good as the total raw food diets but becomes more practical for most people. Simply take 4-6 capsules with each meal to ensure complete digestion of the food. This not only prevents leaky gut syndrome along with a long list of health disorders linked to low enzyme stores but also helps to preserve your present enzyme account, ensuring many years of vibrant health.
Some of the many disorders that have been shown to be either directly or indirectly attributed to by low enzyme levels in the body are:
• immune system weakening, impairment and disorders
• obesity and weight related disorders
• circulatory disorders
• neurological and mental disorders
• cancer
• cardiovascular disease
• allergies
• child illness (including hyperactivity and A.D.D.)
• gastrointestinal disorders
• hormonal disorders
• decreased life span
This is to name just a few of the disorders and diseases that are caused by low enzyme levels. It is not the scope here to describe the details of each of these that a low enzyme level will bring on, but enough to say that having a steady high level of enzymes in your body, whether from raw foods or from vegetable digestive enzymes taken with meals, is one of the most important keys to your total physical health if not the most important. So make sure your enzyme bank account is large so your dividends of total health = wholeness never cease.
